Cash Is No Longer King
-Why I Can No Longer Accept Cash Payments-
This is probably the least sexy blog I’ve ever written, but it’s one I unfortunately need to share.
I know how discreet and convenient cash can be, and I’ve always tried to accommodate that preference. But with the way things are going, cash is no longer the viable payment option it once was. That’s why, as much as I regret it, I’ve had to make the decision to stop accepting cash payments.
As an independent accountant, I have to protect my reputation and integrity. I’ve always operated in a fully tax-transparent way, even with cash payments, but the financial world is changing fast. Governments are cracking down on cash-based transactions, and banks are tightening their controls, asking endless questions when you deposit cash. These days, even finding a bank branch or deposit point can be a hassle. It’s pretty clear that handling cash is becoming more trouble than it’s worth.
As a consumer, you’ve likely noticed the same trend: more and more establishments are no longer accepting cash, pushing everyone toward digital payments. This shift is unavoidable, and the pressures on businesses to move away from cash are substantial.
I’ve delayed it for some time, but the moment has come—starting now, all payments will need to be made by bank transfer or credit card. For those of you concerned about discretion, don’t worry—the description on your bank or card statement will be completely neutral and generic. I understand how important privacy is.
That said, I know that for some of you, the inability to pay with cash may be a deal-breaker. I get it, and I hope you don’t blame me for it. There may still be providers out there who accept cash without the same concerns. But with me—and increasingly, with others in this field—this policy is firm and non-negotiable.
While I know this may be frustrating, I hope you’ll understand that these changes are necessary to protect my reputation as an independent accountant, stay compliant with tax regulations, and avoid the complications that come with handling cash in today’s tightly regulated financial environment. In short, it is essential in order to remain active in this field.
Thank you for your understanding, and let’s quickly close out this non-sexy topic—and instead focus on making your next visit as thrilling as ever. See you soon?
